Setting a new standard

I was told that I am the first African-American Woman to ever run for City Council in the history of Haverhill. As someone born and raised here I'm just happy to be doing my civic duty to build up my community in anyway I can. However I also remember being the only kid in my class, and my school, that looked like me up until 5th grade. I have to admit win or lose I'm so honored to be able to share this moment with my daughter. I want her to know she can do anything! I do not want her to feel limited by race, gender, religious belief, or any other conceivable boundary. Looking at my daughter with a pretty pink bow in her hair and a ninja turtle shell strapped on her back I have a feeling she's not going to be the limiting type! :)#girlpower #cocogirl #sassylittlelady
